About the Twilight Knights
The Twilight Knights Renaissance Guild was originally founded in Moraga, CA, in 1997 by Benjamin B. Hsu as the Twilight Knights Fencing Club. Since then, we have become a full-fledged fully functional working Renaissance Guild that performs in conventions, shows and fairs. The Knights are a group committed to educating and entertaining the public with displays of authentic 16th century fighting. We focus on western styles of fighting, using shinai and foil. We also teach polearm, battleaxe, sword and shield, daggers and paired combat. We welcome new members, so feel free to stop by our weekly practices, contact one of our directors, or inquire about us at your local Renaissance Fair.
Northern Knights
Benjamin B. Hsu is the Guild Director. He is a former SCA member and fighter/instructor, a member of the American Jousting Alliance, a former competitor in the United States Fencing Alliance and a long-time stage fighting director. Ben is also a certified weapons master with the Wu Shu Society and the International Swordsman Society. He has been teaching freestyle fencing, stage fighting and 16th century combat techniques for over ten years.
Southern Knights
John Proko is an Assistant Director, and founder of the Twilight Knights San Diego Chapter. He is a long-time martial arts practitioner, a winner of numerous tournaments, has made a careful study of European weapon arts for more than ten years, and has been an instructor for four. As the newest expansion of the Twilight Knights the San Diego Chapter is actively recruiting and looking to substantially expand their membership.
